COPA: USA v Paraguay review: USMNT on steroids (also: Messi magic)

Posted on June 12th, by Daryl in Soccer Podcasts. Comments Off on COPA: USA v Paraguay review: USMNT on steroids (also: Messi magic)

We review the USA’s 1-0 win over Paraguay, looking at the most aggressive performance   we’ve seen in a while, and a towering performance from John Brooks. We also explain why the US’s goal was pure Gyasi Zardes.

We also explain how Colombia gave up top spot to the US, and look ahead to the Group B finale with Brazil, Peru, Ecuador and Haiti.

There’s disagreement in studio over Chile’s winning penalty kick versus Bolivia. It’s basically Captain America 3: Civil War, only with no special powers or suits.

Last, and by no means least, we talk about Leo Messi’s quickfire hat-trick, which made him joint top scorer at Copa America after just 30 minutes on the field.
